1) Scope
Contact formwork for PCC/RCC: slabs, beams, columns, walls, footings, curved surfaces.
2) Units
- m² of contact surface with concrete.
3) Main Rules
- Classify by orientation (horizontal/vertical/soffit/curved) and finish (ordinary/fair/controlled).
- Measure net contact area; no deduction for small openings ≤0.4 m².
- Repetition/striking not a measurement parameter unless specified.
4) Deductions
- Openings >0.4 m² → deduct.
5) Special Notes
- Beam sides, beam soffit, slab soffit, column sides, wall faces all separate.
- Chamfers/fillets usually included with formwork (state if payable).
- Scaffolding not included unless contract says so.
6) Example
Beam 6.0×0.3×0.5 m:
- Sides area = 2 × (6.0 × 0.5) = 6.0 m²
- Soffit (bottom) area = 6.0 × 0.3 = 1.8 m²
Total = 7.8 m² (measured separately as sides & soffit).
📘 IS 1200 – Part 7: Flooring, Dado, Skirting (Stone/Tiles/Terrazzo)
1) Scope
Floor, wall dados, skirting, steps/treads, thresholds in stone/tiles/terrazzo.
2) Units
- m² (area work)
- m (skirting/beading if linear)
- No. (steps/treads if specified)
3) Main Rules
- Classify by material, thickness, finish (polished/honed/antiskid), location.
- Include bedding mortar where specified as part of item, or keep separate if the spec says so.
- Joints/grouting included unless specified.
4) Deductions
- Openings/shafts >0.1 m² → deduct.
- Small cutouts for pipes/holdfasts ignored.
5) Special Notes
- Skirting/dado: height stated; corners, mouldings extra.
- Grooves/nosings measured separately if specified.
6) Example Granite flooring 18 mm over 20 mm CM bed: area 85.00 m², floor trap 0.20×0.20 (0.04 m²) × 6 nos = 0.24 m² ignored. Pay = 85.00 m².
