Reinforcement Steel (Bars/mesh/couplers)
- Units: kg/tonne (preferred), sometimes m for dowels with conversion.
- Includes: cutting, bending, hooking, placing, binding wire (often included up to ~0.5–1% by weight), chairs/spacers usually excluded unless specified.
- Measured by: BBS lengths × unit weights (IS 1786 bar tables).
- No wastage added unless contract allows; some clients allow specified wastage %.
- Couplers measured No. or kg as specified, separate from rebar weight.
Deductions
- Laps, hooks, cranks included if shown/calculated in BBS; no separate pay.
- Welding of bars if specified may be separate.
Example
Slab rebar (Fe500): 12 mm @ 150 c/c both ways, area 6×4 m.
Qty (each direction) = (Width/spacing +1) × length × wt/m. Compute by BBS; sum all bars → kg.
