IS 1200 – Part 23: Piling

Scope:
Covers measurement of piling works, including driven piles, bored piles, cast-in-situ piles, under-reamed piles, and pile caps.

Unit of Measurement:

  • Running metre (RM) → for piles (measured along length).
  • Number (No.) → for under-ream bulbs, pile heads.
  • Cubic metre (m³) → for pile caps, tremie concreting.

Classification:

  • By type of pile: driven, bored, cast-in-situ, precast, under-reamed.
  • By material: RCC, steel, timber.
  • By diameter/size of pile.

Special Notes:

  • Pile length measured from cut-off level to founding strata.
  • Extra for under-ream bulbs measured per bulb.
  • Testing (load test, integrity test) measured separately.
  • Temporary casings, liners, bentonite slurry considered in rates.
